When Jesus was asked to name the greatest commandment, He didn’t hesitate: “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind…A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39, NLT).
Loving God and loving people are inseparable. True love for God spills over into how we treat others—whether they are friends, strangers, or even enemies.
Loving your neighbor means seeing their needs, listening with compassion, and acting with kindness. It means valuing people not for what they can offer you, but because they are made in the image of God.
It’s easy to love those who love us. It’s harder to love those who hurt, annoy, or differ from us. Yet that’s exactly the kind of love Jesus modeled. On the cross, He loved us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8).
At Macedonia Baptist Church, we want to be known as a people who love deeply and sincerely. Whether it’s sharing a meal, offering a listening ear, or meeting a practical need, every act of love points others back to the ultimate source of love—Christ Himself.
